What’s a Sidney Supper?
The Mary Sidney Society sponsors the annual Mary Sidney Supper to celebrate the birthday and the works of Mary Sidney Herbert, Countess of Pembroke. The Sidney Supper is similar to the popular Burns Suppers that are given all over the world in honor of the Scottish poet, Robert Burns. The evening is filled with food, pageantry, and presentations.

Presentations (limited to approximately seven minutes) are welcomed and performed by volunteers from among the invited guests. Former presentations have included musical duets of Elizabethan tunes, humorous skits, excerpts acted from a local screenwriter's Elizabethan play, short DVD movies produced especially for the event, and Elizabethan rap. Almost anything goes, so long as it’s entertaining and in good taste. See The Pageant page for more details!
